This connector adapter has a regular USB type-A female socket on one end and a 5.5mm x 2.1mm female barrel socket the other end. This adapter is used to convert a 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plug to a regular USB type-A female socket. Great for converting the typical 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plug at the end of the power cable found on many AC to DC wall power adapters to a regular USB type-A female socket power source (see WARNING). See pictures for an illustration of this typical application. The 5.5mm x 2.1mm female barrel socket at one end of connector adapter works with the 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plugs found on our battery eliminator kit accessories such as our power extension cables, power splitter cables and AC to DC wall power adapters. This connector adapter only supports power and does not support USB data transmission.
WARNING
USB industry standards dictate that power supply voltages transmitted through adapters with USB connectors be +5VDC to avoid inadvertently applying incorrect voltages to +5VDC USB powered electronic devices. Other DC voltages can be transmitted through this adapter such as 3.3VDC, 6VDC, 9VDC, 12VDC, etc.; however, in this use-case, great care should be exercised to prevent the inadvertent application of these voltages to +5VDC USB powered electronic devices as damage to these devices might occur.
