NEW & IMPROVED SINGLE COMPONENT DESIGN! This new and improved next generation D Active Dummy Cell
Battery eliminates the need for the 2-component solution used in the original
first-generation D Active Dummy Cell Battery resulting in a higher reliability
solution. The original first-generation
version is constructed of a AA Active Dummy Cell Battery that slides into a
hollow plastic D cell battery dummy case.
Since this new and improved next generation design is a single
component, you don’t have to worry about the AA Active Dummy Cell Battery
falling out of the hollow plastic D cell battery dummy case. It also means not having to worry about the positive
(+) terminal of the AA Active Dummy Cell Battery making good contact with the
internal positive (+) terminal of the hollow plastic D cell battery dummy case.
As with the original first-generation design,
this new and improved next generation D Active Dummy Cell Battery is used to
replace a real D battery in flameless LED candles and other electronic devices
that use one or more D batteries. It has an 11" long thin flat flexible
cable (FFC cable) with a 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel socket at the end and works
with the barrel plugs on all of our Battery Eliminator Kits and Accessories
(Power Splitter Cables, Power Extension Cables, AC to DC Wall Power Adapters,
etc.). Works by itself or in conjunction
with our D Passive Dummy Cell Batteries and the appropriate AC to DC Wall Power
Adapter to eliminate expensive batteries that are constantly having to be
replaced. Please read the detailed discussion and diagram for the components

This new and improved next generation D Active Dummy Cell Battery is one
component of an overall Battery Eliminator solution which consists of a D
Active Dummy Cell Battery (this part or D-DUMMY-ACTIVE), one or more D Passive
Dummy Cell Batteries (D-PASSIVE-DUMMY or D-PASSIVE-DUMMY-NG - quantity depends
on the number of regular batteries required by the electronic device), and an
AC to DC Wall Power Adapter (DC output voltage depends on the number of
batteries used by the electronic device).
The
tip/inner conductor of the barrel socket goes
to the (+) terminal of the D Active Dummy Cell Battery, and the ring/outer
conductor of the barrel socket goes to the (-) terminal of the D Active Dummy
Cell Battery. This internal connection
is needed to complete the circuit necessary in the electronic device when used by
itself or in conjunction with our D Passive Dummy Cell Batteries.
This D Active Dummy Cell Battery is the same size as a real D battery, so it
fits in one of the battery spaces in the battery compartment. It doesn't matter
which space it goes into as long as the correct polarity is still observed as
with regular batteries. The FFC cable can easily be run around the side of most
battery compartment covers, so the original battery cover can still be used. In
some cases, it might be necessary to take a small file and file out a shallow
groove which gives the flat cable a little bit more room to run around the side
of the battery cover.
As an example, suppose you want to eliminate 2 x D batteries, you will need 1 x
D Active Dummy Cell Battery (this component), 1 x D Passive Dummy Cell Battery,
and an AC to DC Wall Power Adapter that supplies the appropriate power for
electronic devices that use 2 x D batteries. Since each regular D battery
supplies 1.5VDC, 2 x D batteries will supply 3VDC, so you would need an AC to
DC Wall Power Adapter that supplies an output voltage around 3VDC (3.3VDC is
also acceptable).
As another example, suppose you want to
eliminate 3 x D batteries. You will need 1 x D Active Dummy Cell Battery (this
component), 2 x D Passive Dummy Cell Batteries (this component) and an AC to DC
Wall Power Adapter that supplies the appropriate power for electronic devices
that use 3 x D batteries. Since each regular D battery supplies 1.5VDC, 3 x D
batteries will supply 4.5VDC, so you would need an AC to DC Wall Adapter that
supplies an output voltage around 4.5VDC (5VDC is also acceptable).
NOTE(S): This is not a real battery and will not power an electronic device on
its own. It needs to be used in conjunction with the other necessary components
that make up a complete Battery Eliminator solution as discussed above and
depicted in the included diagram.
