Description
This 5000mAh portable USB power bank
with solar power charger is the perfect solution for on-the-go outdoor
enthusiasts. Its sleek, thin and
lightweight aluminum housing is available in different colors, and it will work
with many makes and models of smart phones such as the Apple iPhone, Samsung
Galaxy, Nokia Lumina, and other makes such as Blackberry, Motorola, LG,
Sony/Ericsson, etc. It will also work
with other portable electronic devices such as iPads, iPods, digital cameras,
PSPs, MP3 & MP4 players, PDAs, Bluetooth headsets, etc. The ultimate in practicality and versatility
because this USB power bank can be charged from the built-in solar panel or
from an external power source. It’s
small enough to fit in your pocket, or strap it to the outside of your pack, so
the sun can charge it up while you are hiking!
Its solar power charger allows it recharge any time it’s exposed to direct
sunlight, so if you don’t plan on having access to an electrical outlet for a
long period of time, then this is the perfect power bank for you!
The power bank has two ports: a mini-A
USB input socket and a regular (type A) USB output socket. Charging of the power bank is accomplished
through the built-in solar panel or through the mini-A USB input socket, and
charging of your smart phone is accomplished through the regular (type A) USB
output socket. It has 4 LED indicators
that indicate the power bank’s state of charge, and it has a recessed power
button to prevent accidental power cycling.

Operation
When the power button is pressed, the
4 LEDs will indicate the power bank’s state of charge. 1 steady lit LED indicates the power bank has
a 25% charge; 2 lit LEDs indicate a 25% charge; 3 steady lit LEDs indicate a
75% charge, and 4 steady lit LEDs indicate a 100% charge. The LEDs will only remain lit for a few seconds
after the power button is pressed and then they will turn off, provided an
electronic device isn’t plugged into the regular (type A) USB output socket and
actively charging.
When the power bank is plugged into
a power source or if the sun is bright enough to charge the power bank, at
least 1 of the LEDs will turn on and blink to indicate that it is charging. A blinking LED indicates that the power bank
is in the process of charging to achieve that particular percent state of
charge. For example, if 3 of the LEDs
are steady lit, and the 4th LED is blinking, then the power bank has
a 75% charge and is in the process of charging to achieve a 100% charge. Once all 4 LEDs are steady lit, then the
power bank will have a 100% charge.
It is also important to note that
the power bank will charge a device that is plugged into the regular (type A) USB
output socket even if the LEDs are not lit provided the power bank still has
some charge. In other words, it is not
necessary to push the power button in order to charge an electronic
device. One of the advantages of this
feature is it will charge devices that only require a small amount of charging
current like a Bluetooth headset. Some
power banks will automatically turn off (but not this one!) once the charging current drops down to
a small value which can sometimes prevent these types of from charging. If the power button is pushed while an
electronic device is charging, the LEDs will remain lit until the charging
current for the device being charged has dropped down to a small value. This is done to help conserve power, and it
usually occurs once the electronic device being charged has achieved a 100%
state of charge (or close to 100%).
Note: Direct sunlight is required to charge the
power bank, so make sure that the entire solar panel is exposed to direct
sunlight. It may not charge when clouds
are partially blocking the sun or if something is blocking part of the solar
panel like an article of clothing, etc.
